Learning through experience is supported by several pedagogies. Third-year nursing students had the opportunity to learn directly from people who use substances and deal with precarious housing. In this presentation, we will share student and educator perceptions about the value, knowledge and expertise of people with lived and living experience as a method of teaching and learning for health care providers.

Learning Outcomes:
- Outline the benefits and challenges of engaging students directly with marginalized people in the community
- Discuss the role of faculty in these applied learning situations
